Gateway to the Eden Valley, Edenbridge has many medieval buildings, coaching inns, courtyards and a water mill. Ye Old Crown Inn is hard to miss with its rare pub sign bridging the High Street. The Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul features a Burne-Jones stained glass window in the Martyn Chapel, and the Arts and Crafts architect Mackay Hugh Baillie Scott is buried in the town cemetery. Edenbridge holds a weekly Thursday market, in the summer the town is the focus of the Eden Valley Festival fortnight, and in November hosts one of the oldest bonfire celebrations in the country.
The town is easily accessed by two railway lines and is an excellent starting point for Eden Valley walking. Walks range from a short stroll to a full day, passing many of the area’s best features en route. Ten printed walks leaflets are available from the Town Council, also an historic Town Trail and a version for children, and an Eden Valley Villages trail.
The Town Council office is located off the High Street behind Eden Valley Museum, across the courtyard in Doggetts Barn. The building is Disability Accessible, including a lift to the first floor Visitor Information Point.
